Before you publish
For website codes, show the recognisable domain in plain text so people can decide where the scan should lead.
A compatible scanner can read the network name and password. Do not display one more widely than you would share the password itself.
This creates static codes. If a URL, password or contact detail changes, the old image still contains the old value.
QR code questions
SVG is a scalable vector file and is usually the better choice for signs, print and design software. PNG is a fixed-size image that is convenient for documents, social posts and simple website editors.
No. The generator checks that a website entry is a normal http or https address, but it does not visit, reputation-check or endorse the destination. Read the encoded address before downloading and keep the printed domain visible.
Very dense content, low contrast, distortion, a missing white margin, small printing or placement on a curved or reflective surface can all reduce readability. Test the final artwork with more than one device.
Contacts use a vCard 4.0 text payload. Wi-Fi uses the widely supported WIFI payload convention documented by the ZXing project. Scanner support can still vary by device and camera application.
